Provider Updates
Information regarding Teledentistry:
D9995: Teledentistry - synchronous; real-time encounter
D9996: Teledentistry - asynchronous; information stored and forwarded to dentist for
subsequent review.
The fees for teledentistry-synchronous / asynchronous are considered inclusive in overall patient management and are not billable to the patient. Please note at this time, D9995 has no fee associated with it as it is only intended to indicate the manner in which treatment was delivered. D9995 / D9996 must be submitted along with another appropriate code, usually D0140 (problem focused exam).
The fee for the billed exam will be processed / paid based on the members benefit setup / frequency.
